PACE Report: Hand Hygiene for Health

Using Interaction Design to boost compliance. The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority has made hand sanitization compliance a priority, yet the goal of 100% has not been reached.  An Emily Carr 3rd year Communication Design class was asked to consider the problem and suggest solutions.  Two solutions were selected for implementation:  an innovative print-based campaign and an interactive solution. Emily Carr Researchers Design Data Visualizations for Mozilla's New Lightbeam Firefox Add-On

Emily Carr University’s Research Centre in Social + Interactive Media announces the launch of Lightbeam, a new Add-on for the Firefox browser that enables users to visualize online data tracking in real time.  Mozilla, the developer of Firefox, partnered with the University on a year-long research project to improve Lightbeam’s interactive visualization.    Read more….

Emily Carr alumna Colleen Heslin ('03) received the distinguished $25,000 RBC Canadian Painting Competition

Emily Carr alumna Colleen Heslin (’03) received the distinguished $25,000 RBC Canadian Painting Competition award Wednesday, October 2, 2013, for her work, Almost Young, Wild and Free. The award for emerging artists is one of the largest in Canada. The national public touring exhibition showcasing the works of all 15 finalists is currently in Ottawa and will travel across the country. Read more here

Emily Carr's S3D Centre Creates First Variable High Frame Rate Live Action Film

Research conducted at our Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) Centre investigates the use of variable frame rates with the production of “L’ ÂME SOEUR (SOULMATES) 3D”. The short film incorporates scenes at 24, 48, and 60 fps to demonstrate the creative potential of using variable frame rates within a narrative context.
