Emily Carr University of Art and Design Alumni are Growing BC and Canada's Economy

Emily Carr recently conducted an alumni employment survey with Vancouver-based market research and consulting firm Vision Critical. According to findings, 92% of grads are employed, an increase of 6% since a 2006 survey. The survey received a high response rate, — with over 1/3 of invited graduates from 1996-2011 participating. And, of those working, 29% own their own business, are self-employed, or are themselves employers. You can now access a big part of Emily Carr’s history online. We were thrilled to receive a grant from the BC History Digitization Program to digitize 83 years of school calendars. By digitizing this collection we’re able to broaden access and preserve the physical materials in our archive. Emily Carr student wins this year's IDEA Art Award competition

Congratulations to Taralee Guild (’10) who won this year’s IDEA Art Award competition. Her piece, Galiano Forest, will become part of the VGH and UBC Healing Arts permanent collection. Taralee’s work will be installed in the Detwiller Pavilion at UBC Hospital, Psychiatry Unit early this summer. Her hope is that the piece will convey warmth and provide visual stimulation for a successful experience while giving the viewer a feeling of calm.
